SC to deliver verdict on Arnab Goswami's plea for quashing FIRs on Tuesday:- The top court on May 11 had directed that no coercive action should be taken against Goswami in the fresh FIR lodged by Mumbai police and had reserved its verdict on both of his petitions. The  Supreme Court  is scheduled to pronounce verdict on Tuesday on plea by Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami, seeking to quash multiple FIRs lodged against him in various states over his alleged defamatory statements against Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi in a news show relating to Palghar mob-lynching case. A bench headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud will also deliver its judgement on another plea of Goswami seeking to quash the FIR lodged on May 2, against him by  Mumbai Police  for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by making some remarks during his news show. Corona virus cases in Tamil Nadu top 9,000, over 55% cases are from Chennai Chennai witnessed a huge spike in coronavirus count after Koyambedu market had emerged as the hotspot The city so far confirmed nearly 5,000 COVID-19 patients and 2,000 of them are related to Koyambedu market cluster. Tamil Nadu became the third state in India to report over 9,000  coronavirus  cases. As many as 509 people tested positive for novel COVID-19 in last 24 hours, taking the total count to 9,227. Nine passengers who landed in Chennai from other countries under Vande Bharat mission confirmed positive for the disease. Chennai witnessed a huge spike in  coronavirus count  after Koyambedu market had emerged as the hotspot of COVID-19 infection. IRCTC special trains to have limited waiting lists from 22 May: Railways The changes will come into effect for tickets booked from 15 May for journeys beginning from 22 May, 2020 There shall be no Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) in special trains, Indian Railways said. Indian Railways  today announced that the special trains for passengers that started running from Tuesday will be having  waiting lists  from 22 May, 2020 onward. The list of the trains to get the facility will be notified later, railways added. The changes will come into effect for tickets booked from 15 May for journeys beginning from 22 May. Furthermore, the waiting list for special trains will be capped at 100 for AC 3 tier, 50 for AC 2 tier, 200 for sleeper class, 100 for chair cars, while the list will be capped at 20 each for First AC and Executive Class, it clarified. There shall be no Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) in special trains, Indian Railways said in a statement.

SpiceJet to pay part salaries to 92% of employees, no job cuts

Budget passenger carrier SpiceJet on Thursday said that it will pay part salaries to over 92 per cent of its employees and t hat there will be no job cuts at the airline. "In these extremely challenging times when no passenger flights have opera ted for over a month resulting in our primary revenue source drying up completely,  SpiceJet  has decided that there would be no job cuts at the airline at this time," the airline said in a statement. "While a number of airlines the world over have been forced to retrench employees and withhold salaries, SpiceJet with its limited cargo operations during the  lockdown  period, will pay part salaries to over 92 per cent of its employees." SpiceJet said salaries would be credited tomorrow.
